Jack White joined Canterbury in 1951 as a lock forward. Jack is the brother of Lloyd White.

Jack was a regular member of the third grade team of 1951 and played in the third grade semi-final against South Sydney. He became a regular member of the reserve grade team in 1952.

Jack received his opportunity in first grade when Nev Charlton was injured. He then became a regular first grade player in 1953 and was rewarded by playing for Sydney against the visiting American All Stars.

Jack played one more season in first grade before retiring. He was appointed third grade coach in 1959 and his team qualified for the semi-finals.

In 1960 and 1961, Jack was the reserve grade coach.
