Jack Stewart is the elder member of the Stewart family that included Frank and Kevin Stewart.

A centre, Jack joined Canterbury in 1941 and progressed through the grades.

In 1942, Jack played first grade until Edgar Newham returned to the team.

Thereafter, Jack's appearances for the club was sporadic.
