Jack 'Bluey' McConnell joined Canterbury in the inaugural season and played in the opening first grade game against North Sydney.
Jack was recruited from Western Suburbs where he played 28 games between 1933 and 1934, including the Westerns Suburbs Premiership winning team.
Jack McConnell was a strong second rower and was the first Canterbury player to be selected for a representative team. He was selected to play City Seconds in 1935.
Jack was also a member of the inaugural semi final team in 1936.
