Jack Bonnyman joined Canterbury after representing Country and NSW in 1939.

He played centre and slotted into the position made vacant by the departure of Jim Champion.

Jack's versatility enabled him to play half back and five eighth when required.

He captained Canterbury in the 1940 final against Easts (Roosters) and played in the 1942 Premiership winning team.

Jack captained a total 12 games and in 2004, he was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
