Hutch Maiava joined the Bulldogs in 2003 as a prop forward.

Hutch became a regular member of the Premier League team and played in the Preliminary Final against Penrith from the bench.

In 2004, Hutch started the season in the NRL against Parramatta as Mark O'Meley was injured. He returned to the Premier League and played in the Qualifying Semi-Final against the Roosters.

In 2005, Hutch joined Cronulla to play 40 games from 2005 to 2006 before joining Hull in 2007.
