Harry Emptage joined Canterbury in 1947 as a centre.

He progressed through the grades in 1947 and received his first grade opportunity when Eddie Tracey was injured.

Harry played in the semi-final against Newtown before Eddie Tracey returned a week later.

In 1948, Harry commenced the season as a first grade centre forcing Norm Young to the wing, but he missed the second half of the season.
