The son of coach Tedda Courtney, Harry joined Canterbury in the inaugural season after playing three first grade games for St George in 1934.

A second rower, Harry played in the record breaking losses against St George (6-91) and the Roosters (7-87) before losing his spot in first grade.

Harry passed away in December 1936.
