Greg Mackey played 31 games for South Sydney from 1981 to 1983 as a five eighth.

In 1984, Greg joined Illawarra to play 104 games from 1984 to 1988.

In 1989, Greg joined Canterbury and started the season in reserve grade. He was used as a first grade replacement before becoming half back when Jason Alchin moved to fullback and became a regular member of the first grade team.

After leaving Canterbury, Greg joined Warrington before having a long career with Hull.

Greg passed away in September 2014.
