George Cook joined Canterbury in 1944 as a hooker.

He played first grade early in the season before Roy Kirkaldy rejoined the team.

After missing season 1945, George rejoined the club for a second stint in 1946.

He joined Parramatta in their inaugural year, playing 17 games and scoring their first try recorded in first grade.
