Frank O'Sullivan joined Canterbury in 1947 as a centre where he was a regular member of the reserve grade team.

In 1948, Frank was a regular member in the third grade team where he played in the semi-final against Western Suburbs.

In 1949, Frank secured a first grade position mid-season when Athol Halpin was injured.

Frank remained with the club for three more seasons, playing in the lower grades.
