Eddie Tracey joined Canterbury in 1942 as a centre at 18-years-old.
After showing potential in reserve grade in 1942 and 1943, Eddie enlisted in the Air Force and served overseas until the end of World War II before returning to Canterbury in 1946 where he was able to secure a wing spot in time for the finals when Keith Gersbach was injured.
In 1947, Eddie secured a position at centre which he held for two seasons. He was apart of the 1947 Grand Final.
1948 was Eddie's most successful season personally, playing representative games for City, NSW (vs New Zealand) and was also selected to play for Australia only to withdraw through injury.
In 1949 he was forced to leave the Berries, due to residential rules and played for South Sydney until injured, retiring mid season after six first grade games.
