Doug Hambilton played eight first grade games for Western Suburbs in 1957 as a second row forward.
In 1958, Doug played for Western Suburbs, Brisbane - representing Brisbane on 17 occasions. In 1962, he returned to Sydney to play for Canterbury.
Doug was a regular member of the reserve grade team and received the opportunity to play first grade against Western Suburbs when John Conna was injured.
Doug went on to be captain-coach of Penrith reserve grade in their inaugural season in 1967.
