Don Workman played 10 games for Newtown between 1959 and 1961 as a lock forward.
Don joined Canterbury in 1962 and became a regular member of the reserve grade team as captain, playing in the Semi-Final against Parramatta.
In 1963, Don became a regular member of the third grade team, as captain, playing in the Grand Final against St George.
After starting 1964 in third grade, he finished the season in reserve grade. In 1965, Don was a regular member of the reserve grade team and received his opportunity in first grade late in the season against Balmain when George Taylforth was injured.
