Don Hobson joined Canterbury in 1963 as a second row forward.
After starting the season in reserve grade, Don received the opportunity to play first grade against Easts (Roosters) when Kevin Neal was injured before completing his initial playing in first grade.
In 1964, he started the season in first grade and was relegated to make way for Roger Pearman. Don played additional games in first grade when Kevin Goldspink was unavailable through injury.
In 1965, Don was a regular member of the reserve grade team, again playing first grade when Kevin Goldspink was injured.
