Dick Pickett joined Canterbury in 1957 as a centre.
After only playing a handful of games in third grade, he became a regular in reserve grade in 1959.
Dick received his opportunity to play first grade when Clive Gartner was injured. He played in the reserve grade Preliminary Final against North Sydney in 1959.
Dick became a regular member of the first grade team for the next three seasons and in 1960, he played in the semi-final play-offs but missed the semi-final against Easts (Roosters) due to injury.
In 1962, Dick played in the winning Pre-Season Final team against Western Suburbs.
In 1963, he spent most of the season in the lower grades and played in the third grade Semi-Final against St George but was unavailable for the Grand Final, played two weeks later.
After missing the 1964 season, Dick joined Western Suburbs to play a further 24 first grade games between 1965 and 1969.
