Denis Dooley joined Canterbury in 1956 as a second row forward.
In 1957, Denis started the season in reserve grade and received the opportunity to play first grade when Tom Shiner was relegated to third grade.
Denis was to be a regular in reserve grade over the next three seasons, playing first grade periodically.
In 1961, he mainly played in third grade to close out his career.
