David Moffett joined Canterbury in 1979 as a prop forward.

David started the season in first grade against Penrith but his season was ruined by injury.

In 1980, David started the season in first grade but was relegated for Steve Folkes and became a regular member of the reserve grade team.

After playing in the reserve grade Semi-Final against Manly, David was used as a fresh reserve for first grade but did not play in the Premiership winning team against Easts (Roosters).

In 1981 he played reserve grade and played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against St George.

In 1982, David continued playing in reserve grade, playing his last games as captain.

David returned to Brisbane at the end of 1982.
