David Burnes played 23 games for Cronulla from 1983 to 1989 as a centre in two stints.
In 1984, David joined Canterbury and received the opportunity to play first grade against Parramatta when Peter Mortimer broke his arm in the first game of the season.
David was later relegated for Chris Mortimer and became a regular member of the reserve grade team.
David joined Penrith in 1985 to play 11 games between 1985 and 1986 before returning to Cronulla in 1988.
