Dave Allison joined Canterbury in 1974 as a second row forward.

In 1975, Dave became the regular hooker in the Under 23 team and played hooker for the rest of his career.

Dave missed the finals due to injury but returned in 1976 to play in the Under 23 Grand Final against Easts (Roosters).

In 1977, Dave started the season in reserve grade and received his opportunity in first grade against South Sydney when George Peponis was injured.

A player with immense potential, Dave tragically died in a work accident in February 1978.
