Darren Blythe played four games for Easts (Roosters) in 1988 as a winger.

In 1989, Darren joined Canterbury and started the season late before receiving the opportunity to play first grade against Gold Goast when Jason Alchin was injured.

Darren was relegated late in the season for Greg Barwick.
