Dale Finucane played his junior football for the Bega Roosters and studied at Bega High School.
In 2009, he signed with the Bulldogs. When signed at the Bulldogs, Dale was educated at Bass High School.
In 2009, Dale played for the Bulldog's S.G. Ball Cup team, winning the S.G. Ball Cup Player of the Year award and playing for the New South Wales Under 18s team. Later that same year, he moved straight into the Bulldogs NYC team. He played in the NYC for the Bulldogs from 2009 to 2011, playing over 60 games. On 31 August 2010, Dale was named on the interchange bench in the 2010 NYC Team of the Year. On 30 August 2011, he was named at prop in the 2011 NYC Team of the Year. On 16 October 2011, Dale played for the Junior Kangaroos against the Junior Kiwis, where he played at lock in the 28-16 loss.
In
2012, Dale moved on to the Bulldogs NSW Cup team.
In round 13 of the 2012 NRL season, Dale made his NRL debut for the Bulldogs against South Sydney, playing off the interchange bench in the 23-18 win at ANZ Stadium. On 30 September 2017, in the Bulldogs 2012 NRL Grand Final against the Melbourne Storm, he played off the interchange bench in the 14-4 defeat. He finished his debut NRL year with him playing in 14 matches for the Bulldogs in the 2012 NRL season.
In round 20 against Parramatta, Dale scored his first NRL career try in Bulldogs 40-12 win at ANZ Stadium. On 11 August 2013, he extended his contract with Canterbury from the end of 2014 to the end of 2016. He finished the 2013 NRL season with him playing all of Canterbury's 25 matches and scoring 1 try.
In February 2014, Dale was selected in the Bulldogs 2014 NRL Auckland Nines squad. On 4 May 2014, he played for Country Origin against City Origin where he played off the interchange bench in the 26-26 all draw in Dubbo. On 5 October 2014, in Canterbury's 2014 NRL Grand Final against South Sydney, Dale played off the interchange bench in the 32-6 defeat. He finished the 2014 NRL season with him playing in 27 matches and scored 1 try for the Bulldogs.
On 18 December 2014, after gaining a release from his Bulldogs contract, Dale signed a three year contract with the Melbourne Storm starting in 2015.
