Craig McKeough joined Canterbury in 1989 as a centre.
Craig was a regular member of the Under 21 team and in 1990, Craig progressed through the grades and received the opportunity to play first grade against Illawarra when Mark Robinson was relegated.
In 1991, Craig was regular member of the reserve grade and moved to lock by the end of the season.
In 1992, Craig was a regular member of the reserve grade team but mainly as a replacement.
