Craig Dean joined Canterbury in 1989 as a winger.
After starting in the Under 21 team, Craig finished his first season in reserve grade.
1990, Craig started the season in reserve grade and received the opportunity to play first grade against St George when Glen Nissen was injured.
Craig was relegated when Glen Nissen returned and was relegated to the Under 21 team mid-season where he played in the Preliminary Final against Parramatta.
In 1991, Craig was a regular member in the Under 21s and played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.
Craig left Canterbury in 1992 to become a regular first grade player in Rugby Union.
