Clive Bryant joined Canterbury in 1965 as a winger. He represented Country in 1965 before joining the club.

Clive was selected in first grade in replacement of Bernie De Witt for the match against Western Suburbs at Belmore.

After starting the 1966 season in reserve grade, Clive was able to secure a first grade position when Barry Smith was relegated.

In 1967, he became a regular member of the reserve grade team.
