Chris Hughes joined Canterbury in 1982 as a half back.

Chris was a regular member of the Under 23 team and received the opportunity to play first grade against South Sydney when Steve Mortimer was injured.

Chris started the 1983 season in the Under 23s but could not secure a regular position in the team.
