Charlie Donovan joined Canterbury in 1957 as a centre.

He received his first grade opportunity when Clive Gartner was injured and played on the wing in first grade.

Charlie joined South Sydney in 1959 to play in eight first grade games from 1959 to 1960 and in 1961, he joined Parramatta to play six further first grade games.

Charlie passed away in July 2003.
