Clyde Cant joined the club in the inaugural year as a centre playing in reserve grade.

Previously playing seven first grade games for Western Suburbs in 1931 and 1932, Clyde was named captain of the opening three matches for the first reserve grade team.

Clyde was given his opportunity to play first grade when Jack Morrison was injured.
