Cec Cooper joined Canterbury in 1949 as a centre.
The brother of Lionel, Col and Reg Cooper, Cec progressed quickly through the grades to play first grade in 1949 when Jim Tutill was injured.
In 1950, Cec secured a regular first grade position which he maintained for the next four seasons.
In 1951, Cec played for NSW against France.
In 1953, Cec was captain of the first grade team. He captained Canterbury on 14 occasions.
After departing the club at the end if 1953, Cec returned to the club to play his last season of first grade in 1956.
In 1957, Cec was coach of the reserve grade team and in 1958 and 1959 became coach of the first grade team.
In 2004, Cec was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
