Barry Rowe joined Canterbury in 1969 as a second row forward.

After starting the season in reserve grade, Brian received the opportunity to play first grade against Manly when Barry Smith was relegated. Brian was later relegated for John Darby.

He finished the season in third grade and played in the Grand Final against South Sydney.
