Brian Battese played 22 games for Western Suburbs in 1983 as a second row forward before joining Canterbury in 1984.

Starting the season in reserve grade, Brian was promoted to first grade against Manly as a replacement.

Brian played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.

In 1985, Brian was a regular member of the first grade team and played in the Premiership winning team against St George.

In 1986, Brian joined Easts (Roosters) to play 23 games from 1986 to 1987. In 1988, Brian joined Canberra to play two more games before retiring.
