Bob Hunt joined Canterbury in 1963 as a hooker.

He was a regular member of the third grade team in 1964 and progressed to become a regular member of the reserve grade team in 1965.

He received his opportunity to play first grade against St George when Col Brown was injured. Thereafter, Bob became a regular member of the third grade team.
