After playing seven first grade for Western Suburbs between 1935 and 1936, Bob Allison joined Canterbury in 1939.

Playing in the second row and later in his career a prop, Bob became a regular member of the first grade team for four seasons.

Bob played in the winning City Cup team in 1939 and played in the 1940 final against Easts (Roosters).

In reserve grade, Bob was a member of the 1945 Grand Final team to close out his playing career.

In 2004, Bob was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
