Bill Noonan played three Tests for New Zealand as a second row forward and prop from 1967 to 1969.
Bill joined Canterbury in 1970 and played in the winning Pre-Season Final against St George. He became a regular prop in first grade for nine seasons.
Bill did play hooker on occasions in 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.
He played in the 1970 Semi-Final against St George and after playing most of the 1971 season in first grade, Bill was relegated to reserve grade for Greg Purcell to return as hooker where he played in the reserve grade Premiership winning team against St George.
In 1972, Bill started the season in reserve grade but was able to secure a regular first grade position when Dennis Manteit was injured.
In 1973, Bill was a regular member of the first grade team and played in the Preliminary Final against Newtown. In 1974, he played in the Grand Final against Easts (Roosters). Bill captained the team for the first time in 1975 and in total, captained the team on three occasions.
Bill played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta in 1975 and in 1976, played in the Preliminary Final against Manly.
Injury interrupted his 1977 season but Bill returned in 1978 to play in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta.
In 1979, Bill joined Newtown to play 36 games between 1979 and 1980.
In 2004, Bill was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
