Originally a St George junior, Bernie Martin played 47 games for St George between 1930 and 1938 in different stints at the club.

Bernie played one season with Murrurindi in 1931 and one season with Warialda in 1932.

Bernie mainly played centre but on occasions was selected on the wing.

Bernie was member of the 1933 St George team that lost the final to Newtown.

Bernie played for South Sydney in the 1935 and 1936 seasons playing nine games in first grade.

Bernie joined Canterbury in 1940 and played first grade when injuries impacted the backs.
