Basil Crawford joined Canterbury in the inaugural season and played in the opening first grade game against North Sydney.

A winger, Basil's career with Canterbury consisted of just three first grade games and one reserve grade match.

Basil attended the Bulldogs 70th Season Celebration Dinner on July 28 2004.

Basil was the last member of the inaugural first grade team and passed away in June 2007 at the age of 94.
