Arthur's junior club was Leichhardt Wanderers, he was graded with Balmain and played lower grades, before moving to Wollongong in 1955 and playing first grade with Collegians (Illawarra). In 1959 he travelled to Sydney to play with Canterbury, mainly reserve grade, until he played the three first grade games that you have listed. But he did not fall foul to injury - the training times were changed for first grade, and due to work committments he was unable to continue to play for Canterbury. He returned to playing with Collegians.

During the early 1960's Arthur played for a few country clubs, including Dapto, Yass ( captain coach) before returning to Collegians. He was selected in the Illawarra Representative side for the Country Championships ( with Bob Fulton partnering him in the halves) from where he was chosen in the 1965 NSW Country side which toured New Zealand ( captained by Arthur Summons, coached by Englishman Phil Jackson). Upon their return, he captained NSW Country Seconds ( again with Bob Fulton) against City Seconds at the SCG ( and traded his jersey with Graeme Langlands !!)

Arthur retired from playing in 1966, commencing a very successful coaching career with Collegians, culminating with him being on the coaching staff for the Illawarra Steelers in their 1982 entry into the NSWRL. Arthur coached the Steelers third grade in 1982 and 1983.
