Arana Taumata was graded by the Roosters as a Lock forward in 2007. He was a regular member of the Roosters Flegg Cup team and was a member of the Matraville High team that won the Arrive Alive Cup against Patrician Brothers Blacktown.

Arana joined the Bulldogs in season 2008 and was impressive in both the Toyota Cup and NSW Cup before being called up to make his first grade debut on June 27 against the Roosters after Daniel Holdsworth was unavailable through injury.

Arana started at five eighth in place of injured Daniel Holdsworth and scored on debut. The following week he lined up against South Sydney and again impressed, scoring his second try in as many games.

He made it three-from-three when he found the line once again when the Bulldogs defeated Brisbane in Round 18.

Arana went on to play a further two first grade games before his contract was terminated on July 31 after he admitted to breaking the Club's Code of Conduct.
