Alan Burwall played for Hull Kingston Rovers in the late 1960s and played Great Britain in 1967 and in the 1968 World Cup before joining Canterbury in 1970.
Alan played in the winning Pre-Season Final against St George as a five eighth but spent most of the season playing centre. After playing the whole season in first grade he was relegated to reserve grade for Ray Strudwick and played in the reserve grade Semi-Final against Balmain.
Alan became the regular first grade five eighth in 1971 and captained the team for a short time. He captained the team on three occasions.
In 1972, Alan was the regular five eighth for most of the season before being relegated late in the season when John Rhodes returned from injury, allowing Les Ewings to complete the season as five eighth.
