Vic Hey

Vic Hey played 26 games for Western Suburbs from 1933 to 1935 including the Premiership winning team in 1934.

A five-eight of high quality, Vic was selected to play for NSW in his initial season before being selected for the 1933-34 Kangaroo tour.

Vic played a total of 10 games for NSW from 1933 to 1935 and played six tests for Australia from 1933 to 1936.

In 1936, Vic moved to Toowoomba and represented Queensland in three matches that season. Therafter, Vic played for Leeds in the English competition winning titles in 1941 and 1942.

Vic later played for Dewsbury and Hunslet before returning to Australia in 1948.

He captain-coached Parramatta in 1948 and 1949 to play another 10 first grade games and continued coaching Parramatta until the end of the 1953 season.

Vic coached Australia for the 1950 series against Great Britian which returned the Ashes after 30 years and continued as Australia's coach until 1955.

Vic coached Canterbury in 1955 and 1956 with little success. He coached Western Suburbs for the 1958 and 1959 seasons which included the 1958 Grand Final against St George.

Vic passed away in 1995 aged 82.

On February 22 2008, Vic was named in the 100 Greatest Players as part of the centenary year celebrations.
