Jimmy Craig was one of the most versatile footballers of all time.

Making first grade for Balmain, Jimmy played 56 games for Balmain in six seasons between 1915 and 1921.

He was a member of Premiership winning teams in 1915, 1916, 1917, 1919 and 1920.

Jimmy spent one season with University in 1922 playing 12 games.

He then moved to Queensland for five seasons before returning to Sydney to captain-coach Western Suburbs, playing 25 games in 1929 and 1930 including the Premiership winning team of 1930.

Predominantly a centre or a five-eight, Jimmy played representative football in most positions from fullback to half.

He played two games for NSW and 18 games for Queensland. Jimmy was an Australian representative in seven tests from 1921 to 1928 and was appointed Australian captain for the 1924 series against Great Britain. He was also a member of the 1921-22 Kangaroos.

For Canterbury, Jimmy's Rugby League experience played great dividends in guiding the team to the Premiership losing only one game through the season in the process.

Jimmy Craig passed away in 1959, aged 65.

On February 22 2008, Jimmy was named in the 100 Greatest Players as part of the centenary year celebrations.
