A former first grade player for Western Suburbs, the Bulldogs and also Parramatta, Dymock played an assistant coaching role at Cronulla before joining the Bulldogs in 2009 to assist new head coach Kevin Moore.

After a solid opening season alongside Moore, the Bulldogs 2010 season and the opening half of 2011 was well below par and as a result, head coach Kevin Moore stood down before their round 19 clash with the Warriors.

Dymock was the 32nd coach to lead the blue-and-whites and unfortunately his first match in charge was a 36-12 defeat at the hands of the Warriors.

Jim Dymock played 31 games for Western Suburbs from 1991 to 1992 mainly as a five-eight.

Jim joined Canterbury in 1993 to become the regular lock forward for the next three seasons. He played every game in the season including the Preliminary Final against Brisbane.

In 1994, Jim played in the Grand Final against Canberra.

In 1995, Jim played every game of the season including being in the Premiership winning team against Manly. He won the Churchill Medal on the day.

Jim was selected to play in the 1995 World Cup. He played for NSW on six occasions from 1996 to 1998 and played for Australia on six occasions from 1995 to 1996.

In 1996, Jim joined Parramatta to play 102 games from 1996 to 2000.

In 2001, Jim joined the London Broncos and returned to Australia in 2004 and has been on the Roosters coaching staff since that time.

In 2004, Jim was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
