Jack Hampstead played 105 games for Balmain between 1940 and 1950.

Jack was originally a centre but moved to lock later in his career.

He played in the premiership winning Balmain teams of 1944 and 1946. Jack played four games for NSW in 1945 and 1946.

Jack coached Canterbury for two years from 1953 to 1954. He was a long serving member of the Balmain board until he passed away in 1992.
