Cec Fifield played 45 games for Western Suburbs from 1923 to 1936 which was interrupted with one season with Balmain in 1930 where he played five games as captain-coach.

Playing a total of five games for NSW in 1925 and 1929, Cec was also a member of the 1929-30 Kangaroos.

A strong centre, Cec played four tests for Australia during the Kangaroo tour, breaking his leg in the fourth test at Rochdale.

Cec then spent five seasons playing for Hull including being a member of the championship winning team in 1936.

In 1937, Cec joined Canterbury for a short stint during the City Cup competition which was played in the second half of the season.

In 1938, Cec was appointed first grade coach for Western Suburbs and in 1943, Cec returned to Canterbury to coach the reserve grade team for two seasons.

In 1944, Cec Fifield replaced Ron Bailey as first grade coach after five games into season. Cec also continued as the reserve grade coach that year.
