Arthur 'Pony' Halloway justifies his selection in the Rugby League Hall of Fame as a pioneering player and as a coach.

Arthur joined Glebe for the inaugural season in 1908 as half, playing seven games. After playing for NSW, he was selected in the 1908-09 Kangaroos. Arthur was also selected for the 1911-12 Kangaroos.

In 1909, Arthur joined Balmain for the first of two stints interrupted by a stint with Easts (Roosters). Arthur played 110 games for Balmain and was a member of the Premiership winning teams in 1915, 1916, 1917, 1919 and 1920. Arthur captained in 1916, 1917, 1919 and 1920 teams.

For Easts (Roosters), Arthur played 32 games from 1912 to 1914 including Premierships in 1912 and 1913.

He moved to Queensland in 1921 to close out his playing career.

Arthur played six games for NSW from 1908 to 1919, one game for Queensland in 1921 and ten tests for Australia including two tests as captain during the 1919 tour of New Zealand.

Arthur had a long coaching career starting with Newtown in 1923. He coached Easts (Roosters) in 1930-31, 1933-38, 1945 and 1947. This includes Premiership winning teams in 1935, 1936, 1937 and 1945.

Arthur coached North Sydney in 1941 and Canterbury in 1948. In total Arthur Halloway was involved with 11 premierships either as a player or a coach.

Arthur passed away in 1961, aged 76.
